Elise looked around. His apartment had stayed the same since the last time she was here. Only the crib, baby carriage and the changing table were new.
Elise laid Patrick in the crib and started to unpack Patrick’s things into the drawers under the changing table.
She wasn’t sure where she should put her things. He hadn’t said.
He hadn’t been clear about anything, except that he wanted to spank her.
Elise had heard about spanking as sex play, who hadn’t? The grey books were so popular. Even she’d read them.
But a spanking for a wife as a punishment was new to her. She peeked up at Patrick and saw that he was asleep.
She took the moment to look up marital spankings on her cell phone. Her jaw dropped when she saw that it was a real thing. It was even widespread, and people joined groups for it. Churches even supported it.
Did that mean this was really going to happen? It surprised her that he would want to touch her at all, although, it had been pretty clear he wanted to ring her neck.
“Elise, I told you to come into the bedroom when Patrick fell asleep.” Derrick was fit to be tied. He’d given her clear instructions, and here she was playing with her phone.
Elise jumped surprised. She hadn’t heard him come in. “I was just putting Patty’s things away.”
“No, you weren’t. You were playing with your phone. Give it to me.”
“Are you going to take it away?” Elise asked, thinking that he really did seem more like her father than her husband.
“I was clear. I want you to give it to me.” He held his hand out to take her cell. “You have big problems with obedience.”
Elise handed him her phone. She was still sitting on the floor.
Derrick had to hold his breath not to laugh when he saw what she’d been researching. She was on the homepage of a bible slash spanking group. “Shall we get started now?” He shut off her phone and laid it down on the changing table.
Elise was in inner turmoil. Was this normal? Had her father spanked her mother when they were younger? Would this be something that she could consider normal if her mother had lived longer?
She couldn’t imagine her mother ever doing something as bad as she’d done. He was right she was a terrible person.
Elise got up to her feet. She would have liked to move faster, but her body felt so heavy. She wanted to make her marriage work. It was nice of him to marry her, when he didn’t have to. She was positive he did it for Patrick and not for her. He had to hate her. This was probably him, making the best out of everything.
“Follow me.”
He was good at the cold teacher-like tone, Elise thought as she followed him into his bedroom.
She couldn’t help but glance around the room. It felt like an entire lifetime had gone by since she was in here last. Still, it looked the same. The only thing missing was Ashton’s dress, Elise’s prop to play the role of her life.
